A new way to collect and organize in Craft

Imagine having a powerful, flexible filing system inside your Craft documents. That's Collections! With this feature, you can create databases within your documents to gather and organize information and records, all in one place.

Each item in a Collection can contain unique content, offering versatility to build comprehensive resources with all the context you could possibly need. Best of all, you can embed a Collection directly into any document, with no overhead required for managing a separate database. In fact, our users are already using Collections in a couple of powerful ways:

Powering professional workflows

Information management is key in many workplaces. Collections enables you to track complex projects and connections; like managing a recruitment pipeline of potential job candidates. With Collections, you can create a dynamic list where each candidate has their own entry. With just a few clicks, you can easily update their progress from initial screening, through the interview stages, to final selection.

Meanwhile, project managers are using Collections to gather documents about different initiatives, grouping resources by team members, tracking progress, and maintaining a holistic view of complex projects. The ability to change views instantly means you get information from the most useful perspective.

Personal Digital Scrapbook

But Collections isn't just about work. Think of Collections as a living, breathing journal of your interests and experiences. You can log passion projects and hobbies with it.

Take movies, for example. Many users are creating personal film archives with Collections. Why not try it, yourself? Start with a list of movies you want to see, and as you progress through the list, rate each film, track filming locations, or categorize them by genre. Want to see movies filmed in Paris? Simply reorganize your collection by location. The flexibility is remarkable.

We're also seeing Collections bloom in other areas: podcast episodes tracked with detailed notes, book lists with reading progress and recommendations, even collections of bicycle routes and travel experiences. A Collection can become the story of your life; a personal archive that grows and evolves with you.

More than a list

What makes Collections truly special is its ability to transform to meet your needs and tastes. A marketing manager can use a Collection to track a campaign's progress by color-coding each project's status, and quickly reorganizing to show team members' workloads. Meanwhile, a book lover can build a personal library tracking their reading journey by marking books as "to read," "currently reading," and "completed," with space for personal reflections and ratings.

We've also seen product designers track feature development in intricate detail, mapping out each stage from brainstorming, all the way to the big launch. Travellers are building Collections that document dream destinations, with research notes, budget tracking, and itineraries.

What will you collect?

Collections aren't just personal tools, they're shareable stories. Share your unique Collections with us, publicly or privately, and inspire others!
